Why images need their own CDN
On many websites, images are the heaviest part of the page. Photos from a camera or a designer are usually far larger than the size they're shown at, and saved in older formats like JPG or PNG. Visitors end up downloading megabytes they never see.
Simpanan fixes that in one place: the original file stays intact, while each page asks for the version it needs through the link. That version is made once and cached for every request after. The full explanation is in our guide what is an image CDN.
What Simpanan doesn't do
So you can choose with confidence, here is what isn't available today:
- Video transcoding. Videos are delivered exactly as uploaded, without adaptive streaming (HLS). For long videos, upload an MP4 that's already compressed.
- Resizing animated GIFs. Animated GIFs keep playing, but are delivered at their original size.
- AI smart cropping. Crops are always taken from the centre of the image.
